Ignore the Prefix of Win8.1 as this applies to everything.

I recently overhauled, rebuilt a computer for someone that had every imaginable so-called 'fix' tool imaginable in it.
I was doing a crossword puzzle & in double checking the spelling for the Brit word for jail, I was reminded to say the following...
If anywhere, some web site or whatever, you see anything like "Your Computer Is Running Slowly" or "Your Computer Has Problems" or Your Computer Is Performing Poorly" or anything close to these and some button saying FIX NOW or something similar...
DO NOT TOUCH such things.
1. They are lying about the state of your computer.
2. They probably want your money
3. They often can do more harm than good
4. Sometimes they are spyware or worse.
5. There is no need for these things.
Stay away from them. DO NOT USE THEM.
Here is the example I encountered:

Just the thing, rogues everywhere. Very good and important to give warnings. I'm with Windows 7 but we don't "probably" have less alerts.

My appreciation, Drew.

My pleasure, Pauli; glad it's appreciated. And, yes, this applies fully regardless of what OS is in use.

Cheers,
Drew
