I'm having this issue since I moved to W2008 R2 64 bits. I was using W2008 X64 before and it worked absolutely fine. As I'm using W7 X86 on my notebook since it was available on the MSDN website as a RTM version, I thought I would like to have a homogeneous working environment so decided to upgrade my work PC to W2008 R2 X64 (it was W2008 x64 before). I started to have several problems with open/save dialogs as well as with file operations from within third party software (i.e. very slow file delete operations from winamp and revo uninstaller). O good example is the "new folder" button from the open/save dialogs. It can takes more than a minute for the "new folder" to be created and the same happens if from the same dialog I try to rename any folder or file. It takes a long, long time to the operation hit its end. This does not happen with Windows Explorer, only with open/save dialogs.
I thought it could be a problem with the W2008 R2 so I tried W7 X64 on a second partition, and the results are exactly the same I'm having with W2008 R2. It does not happen with X86 W7 installed on the same machine. I think this has to do with the 64 bit version of the new Windows generation, as I never had this problem before on this same PC with W2003 x64 and W2008 X64. I really need the 64 bit so I can have access to all 8GB RAM I have installed, and I would like very much to not have to install W2008 "R1" x64 again. All
I'm attaching a zip file containing a MHT file of a recording done with PSR. In the two screens you can see the moment I hit the "new folder" button and the time the new folder actually appears, more than one minute later.
BTW, my system specs are shown bellow and all updates are done. All drivers are correctly installed. Thanks a lot for your help.
