Windows Vista vista multi boot problem (removing grub loader)

I have a an advent qc430 laptop which i bought with vita home premium installed on it, whch was fine untill i needed more room for all my stuff so i bought an external hdd drive case because i had a spare 80gb hdd drive which needed formating. i tried to format it in vista but i kept getting errors so i tried using my linux boot disk with gparted on it and that would not work eiter so i tried instlling linux on it to see wether that would do anything and it worked but i did not realise my laptop could boot from usb 2.0 and now everytime i boot my laptop my external hdd drive has to be on for me to boot into any operating sytem. is there anything i can do to remove the grub loader
