Solution
It seems like there might be an issue with how Windows Vista is displaying the correct CPU speed for your overclocked Core 2 Duo E6400 processor. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this discrepancy: 1. Windows Performance Settings: - Check if Windows Power Management settings are affecting the CPU speed display. Sometimes, Windows may automatically adjust the CPU speed based on power settings. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel under Power Options. 2. BIOS Settings: - Ensure that your BIOS settings reflect the correct CPU speed. If the BIOS is not showing the correct speed, it may be causing Windows to display the wrong information. 3. Update Drivers: - Make sure...

If the BIOS is not showing the correct speed, it may be causing Windows to display the wrong information. 3. Update Drivers: - Make sure your motherboard chipset drivers and any related BIOS updates are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause discrepancies in how Windows reads hardware information. 4. System Stability: - Confirm that your system is stable at the overclocked speed. If your system is unstable or experiencing crashes, it could impact how Windows reads the CPU speed. 5. Registry Settings: - Check the Windows Registry settings for any issues related to CPU speed detection. 6. System Information Tools: - Use system information tools like HWiNFO or Speccy to cross-verify the CPU speed. These tools provide detailed hardware information and can help verify the actual speed of the processor. 7. Reset Overclock: - Temporarily reset the CPU overclock to its default settings and check if Windows Vista displays the correct CPU speed. This can help determine if the overclock is causing the discrepancy. 8. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your Windows Vista installation is up-to-date with all the latest updates. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for hardware detection issues. By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve the issue with Windows Vista incorrectly reporting the CPU speed of your Core 2 Duo E6400 processor.
