Hello!

Got problems with Start up.
I decided to copy all DLL files from RecoveryCD System32 to the %windir%\System32 in hope it will help to start it. Now it does'nt matter what I chose in the Boot Menu ... it always boots a Start-up Recovery like if it was from a Recovery Boot CD. I tried to remove all the DLL files and copied a new files from the other WindowsVista (same version "starter")installation to System32, but with no result, it still booting in a Recovery mode. If I remove all files from the System32 then Windows does'nt start at all.

SystemRestory was disabled.

Please help me!

Solution
It seems like you've encountered boot issues after copying DLL files from a RecoveryCD to %windir%\System32. This action may have caused your system to boot into Startup Recovery mode consistently. To resolve this issue, we need to take a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the boot problem. Here's a guide on what you can try:

Steps to Resolve Boot Issue:

  1. Use System File Checker (SFC) Tool:
    • Open Command Prompt in Administrator mode.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This command will scan and repair corrupted system files.
[]Check Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Settings:
    • Use the bcdedit command to check the BCD settings.

    • Ensure that the default boot options are pointing to the correct Windows installation.
    [
    ]Perform a Startup Repair:
    • Boot from your Windows Installation DVD/USB.
    • Select "Repair your computer" > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
    []Check for Malware:
    • Run a full scan using Windows Defender or any other antivirus program to rule out malware causing boot issues.
    [
]Restore Windows to a Previous State:
    • If possible, restore Windows to a point before you made changes to the DLL files.
    []Manually Restore System Files:
    • If the above steps don't work, you may need to manually replace system files in %windir%\System32 with the correct versions from a working Windows Vista system.
    [
    ]Backup Important Data:
    • Before making significant changes, ensure you have backups of any important data on your system.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • If you have access to another working Windows Vista system with the same version, you can try copying the necessary DLL files manually following a guide on verified file sources.
      • Consider seeking assistance from a professional if you are uncertain about carrying out these steps on your own.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the boot issue and hopefully get your Windows Vista system to start up normally again.
