Windows 7 VMware Guest With Avast

I found out eventually after a lot of frustration that Avast running on the Guest causes problems when updating the VMware Tools. If you don't disable the shields before the update when you reboot Guest the screen will not size properly. I don't know about other antivirus products. Just thought I'd pass this along.

Some commercial anti-virus products do not require you to install anti-virus products on guest virtual machines. One of these, in particular, is ESET NOD32 or ESET Smart Security. This software, which uses the Kaspersky engine, is able to detect virus threats within a virtualized computing environment.
