Windows 7 W7 Update folder question

New to the forum & new to w7.....sorry if the topic has been covered, but I could not find any commentary on it.

1st, updates are set to notify & not auto install.....if I don't want to install an update, how do I remove it from the list & is there a way to permanently reject that & similar updates?

I do not use ie & do not want to be constantly reminded of updates for it.....if there's a way to prevent it.....

Hi weco,
welcome to the forum. To hide an update (you can't actually remove them in case you want the update at a later date) just right-click and choose hide update.

If in the future you want to enable these updates then navigate to the Windows update section via the control panel. Look down the left hand side and you will see 'reveal hidden updates'.

If my version would let me uninstall ie, I would, but I guess hiding the updates might work.....

To turn off IE check 'Turn windows features on or off' found under 'Programs' found via the control panel.
