Windows 7 W7 X32 build 7022 -- What is Device HOOK

Hi there
anybody know what device HOOK is -- I was messing around with an NDIS network driver then I got message Installing Device Driver HOOK from Windows update.

Anybody know what this is.

After its installed I can't find it in the Device Manager or with a Drivers Backup. - Any Windows Gurus --is this some undocumented Network / Firewall Interface.
