I have been a Linux user since 2006. I have tried different versions (Ubuntu, Mint, CentOS, Fedora, currently using Debian). My recommendation for you is either Linux Mint, Manjaro or Solus.

Linux Mint. I am also a beginner and just starting.
But you can download different versions now, which all come with the "Live" feature, You can boot them up first, with no installation obligation, and see what you think. (a bit slower, of course, running from a device)
