Why do incompatible drivers prevent using Memory integrity?

Neither MS nor the manufacturer has the drivers for these external drives, They are about 12 years old and I don't have the name only the serial #.
I updated SES and both WD Books. I also downloaded what I think was a legacy driver. Nothing worked and it prevents core isolation from working.
Is my best bet to transfer the material to new drives and get core isolation to work that way?

The task of device security/core isolation not working has changed because I removed the two old WD external drives and installed another external drive. However the same wdcsam64_prewin8.sys message when trying to open device security/core isolation persists. It seems the incompatible drivers from the previous drives is in the registry or something like that. At my level I cannot diagnose how to turn this feature on.

Device manager > view to hidden drives then remove the offender. Throw outdated drives away.
