I was having weird system issues (mostly system freezes) with Win 7 RC x64 after doing an in place upgrade (build 7068 was rock solid) so I bit the bullet and did a clean install. Now 1 day later I have 10,000+ events in event viewer and still have random freezes. Most entries are either a "warning" under disk: "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation" The other is an "error" under yukonw7: "Driver status 1 or Hardware status 2." I tried searching for help on these but couldn't find anything.

Since building the computer I have often had to pull the cat 5 cable and reinsert to get the networking going after a reboot. I turned off "allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" for the Yukon controller as someone suggested.

My system is an Asus Rampage Formula, dual Yukon Marvell 1 GB NICs, Intel Q9650, Corsair Dominator PC8500 4 GB kit and WD 250 & 750 SATA II HDs with no overclocking.

Any suggestions?

Here is an update should others have similar issues.

The hard drive issue was my WD external drive connected via Firewire. I disconnected the drive and the errors quit. I may have to use the USB interface.

The network driver issue was a little more involved. I had to enter safe mode, unistall and reinstall both Marvell network adapters. Now those errors are gone too.

It seems like you encountered a few issues after upgrading to Win 7 RC x64 and then performing a clean install. Here's a summary of the problems you faced and the solutions you found: 1. System Freezes and Event Viewer Errors: - You experienced system freezes and found numerous events in Event Viewer, with warnings related to disk errors and errors regarding the Yukon network controller. - The warning about disk errors specifically mentioned "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation." - The error related to the Yukon controller stated "Driver status 1 or Hardware status 2." - Your attempts to search for solutions didn't yield any results. 2. Networking Issues: - You mentioned having...
2. Networking Issues: - You mentioned having networking problems where you had to disconnect and reconnect the Cat 5 cable to get the network functioning after a reboot. - To address this, you disabled "allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" for the Yukon controller as per a suggestion. 3. System Configuration: - Your system consists of an Asus Rampage Formula motherboard, dual Marvell 1 GB NICs, an Intel Q9650 CPU, Corsair Dominator PC8500 4 GB RAM kit, and WD 250 & 750 SATA II hard drives with no overclocking. Updates and Solutions: 1. Hard Drive Issue: - Resolved the hard drive issue by disconnecting the WD external drive connected via Firewire. The errors in Event Viewer stopped after disconnecting the drive, considering using the USB interface instead. 2. Network Driver Issue: - Addressed the network driver issue by entering safe mode and uninstalling/reinstalling both Marvell network adapters. After this action, the errors related to the network controller were resolved. If you encounter any further issues or need more assistance, feel free to ask for help. It’s great that you were able to diagnose and resolve these issues!
