Windows 7 Win7 x64 BSOD

Hi guys could i get some help please,

I have a brand new laptop, HP ProBook 4540s, I just installed a 240GB Intel 520 series SSD, a fresh install of x64 Win7 and all seemed fine. I updated as I normally would and things were grewt for a few days. Then all of a sudden I installed a new printer and I had about four BSOD's today.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please find the require files attached.

Please remove the ElbyCDIO driver - you have the version from 2010, which was known to cause sudden reboots/BSODs - Link Removed - Invalid URL

Also Remove the Virtual Clone CD Driver - that's dated from 2011, 2 months after the ElbyCDIO.sys - since both drivers come from the same company, I suggest you uninstall it to : Link Removed - Invalid URL

Update your chipset drivers - Drivers can be found here: Link Removed - Invalid URL

Uninstall your Bluetooth Drivers if you don't use them very often - Windows 7 doesn't like Bluetooth devices very much :

Although probably not relevant to the subject, you should still update your Realtek Audio Drivers - they date back to just about a year ago - http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Rt64win7.sys

The anlaysis's point to a memory error (from what I can see at least) - A few things you can do:

Option 1:
1. Click "Computer" (In the start menu, on the right hand side).
2. Under the title "Hard Disk Drives", right-click the drive your Windows is installed on (should be C:\, but can be D:\ or E:\ or things) and then click "Properties".
3. Under the "tools" tab, select "Check Now" and schedule the scan on reboot.
4. Reboot your computer, and let the scanner run. Once the test has finished, record the results and report back.

Option 2:

Follow the instructions on both, and then post back the results.

Option 3:
These 2 links: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and HD Tune website
Download both (the memtest needs to be put on a CD) and run them - let the memtest run for about several passes, and the hdtune for a few hours (preferably overnight). Post back the results.

However:
You also mention that you installed a new printer - Have you made sure:

The Printer was in a usable condition (hopefully it was before you bought it, but you'd be surprised...)?

The correct plugs are in the right places (the cable between the printer and your laptop, the power cable is in the power plug etc.)?

You installed the correct drivers correctly (ie: the correct drivers for the device, installing the drivers properly etc.)?


That's all I can think of so far.

With any BSOD errors that involve an SSD, it's advisable to:
- update the SSD's firmware
- udpate all storage controller drivers to the latest version. If the latest version isn't from 2012, then post back for more suggestions.

Thanks guys. I'm still in the process of carrying all suggestions out and I'm happy to report no more blue screens. Although I haven't used my new printer again since it happened as I am away at the moment, will be interesting to see if this causes the issue again.
