Hello,
I have a Toshiba Laptop c660 with windows 8 professional installed. I can`t make the jack for headphones to work. The jack is not broken because it works on Ubuntu.

I installed the driver for my soundboard. Didn`t worked. I unistalled it and i let windows chose the best option for me but still didn`t worked.

What i have to do to make it work ? What should i post here ?

Hi,

sorry your post was missed until now.

Have you tried installing the sound driver under compatibility mode?

I think that's a realtek soundboard?

if so, open the Realtek audio icon in the Control panel.
With the headset out, or disconnected, and with the "Speakers Tab" highlighted
Click: "Connector settings" ( top right hand side of the screen)
Click: "Enable auto popup dialogue box"
Click: "OK"
Now plug in the headset
ANother window will pop up.
Select "headphones" as the item plugged in (NOT the line out)

It took me awhile to figure Realtek's control panel. I had an Asus mobo that VIA HD audio and it's control panel was very simplistic and GUI friendly. The with this Gigabyte mobo...oh holy crap what a learning curve...yep Dave, I floundered around Realteks control and just happened to stumble on that....most excellent tip for user to the Realtek sound panel
