Hello WindowsForum.com members, Exciting news from the Windows Insider Blog: Microsoft has just released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25330 to the Canary Channel! Though this build is not available for Arm64 devices, it brings several new features and improvements. As always, remember that builds in the Canary Channel are fresh from the development process, meaning limited documentation and potential stability issues. Let's dive into the updates:
Key Changes and Improvements
Settings:
- Print Screen Key: By default, pressing the print screen key will now open Snipping Tool. You can turn this off in Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard. If
you’ve previously customized this setting, your preference will remain unchanged. - Wheel Devices: The settings page for devices like the Surface Dial has been revamped to align with Windows 11 design principles.
Windows Sandbox:
- If you've swapped the primary mouse button under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse, Windows Sandbox will now adhere to this configuration.
Remote Desktop:
- The connection setup window now respects the text scaling settings found in Settings > Accessibility > Text Size. Large text settings will activate a scrollbar.
BitLocker:
- During drive encryption, you can now minimize the encryption progress dialog.
Inbox Apps:
- The Camera app
can now be uninstalled if desired.Microsoft Store Update
Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on version 22303.1401.x of the Microsoft Store and higher will observe these new enhancements: - Install from Search Results: You can now install free apps and games directly from the search results via an expanded card with an install button.
- New Purchase Design: The purchase dialog in the Store has been redesigned to match Windows 11’s aesthetic, providing a smoother checkout experience.
- In-App Ratings UX: The ratings dialog used by developers has been updated for speed, reliability, and better alignment with the Windows 11 style.
Developer Updates
For developers, the latest Windows Insider SDK is available, and relevant SDK NuGet packages are being flighted. This includes: - .NET TFM packages for .NET apps
- C++ packages for Win32 headers and libraries
- BuildTools package with tools like MakeAppx.exe, MakePri.exe, and SignTool.exe These packages offer granular SDK access and improved CI/CD pipeline integration. Be sure to leverage adaptive code for new APIs and prefer feature detection over OS version checks.
About the Canary Channel
The Canary Channel is designed for early previews of platform changes like core kernel adjustments and new APIs that need extended lead times. Builds here
are experimental and may not make it to a final release. Limited validation and documentation accompany these builds, which can come with significant risks, including the need for a potential reinstallation of Windows.Important Links:
