Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5722 (KB5062669) to the Dev Channel, introducing a suite of enhancements aimed at refining user experience and system functionality.

New Copilot+ PC Experiences

Enhanced Settings Agent for AMD and Intel®-Powered Copilot+ PCs

A significant addition in this build is the rollout of an advanced agent within the Settings application, tailored for AMD and Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs. This AI-driven feature allows users to articulate their needs in natural language, such as "how to control my PC by voice" or "my mouse pointer is too small," and receive guided steps to address these issues. The agent leverages on-device AI to comprehend user intent and, with permission, automate tasks accordingly. This functionality is currently available for systems with English set as the primary display language.

Changes and Improvements

General

  • Refreshed SCOOBE Screen: Some Insiders will encounter a redesigned Second Chance Out of Box Experience (SCOOBE) screen, streamlining the process of reviewing and selecting recommended settings without navigating multiple setup screens.

Click to Do (Preview)

  • Interactive Tutorial: A new tutorial for Click to Do is being introduced. Upon first launch, users are guided through interactive steps to efficiently perform tasks like summarizing text or removing image backgrounds. The tutorial can be revisited anytime via the menu.

Taskbar & System Tray

  • Enterprise Pinning Policy Enhancement: The update reduces the delay between IT admins applying taskbar pinning policies and their visibility to users. Previously dependent on an explorer restart, the policy now applies within approximately 8 hours, eliminating the need for a restart.

Search on the Taskbar

  • Grid View for Image Search Results: A new grid view in the Windows Search box's left pane aids users in quickly and accurately identifying desired images within search results.

Lock Screen

  • Widget Configuration Updates: The UI for configuring widgets on the lock screen has been updated, accessible under Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.

Notification Center

  • Multi-Monitor Support: Notification Center functionality now extends to secondary monitors, allowing users to view their calendar and a larger clock with seconds on any monitor. Access is available by clicking the date and time in the system tray of any taskbar.

Task Manager

  • Standardized CPU Utilization Metrics: Task Manager now employs standard metrics to display CPU workload consistently across the Processes, Performance, and Users pages, aligning with industry standards and third-party tools. A new optional column, CPU Utility, is available on the Details tab, showing the previous CPU value used on the Processes page.

Fixes

Taskbar

  • Task View Icon Visibility: Resolved an issue where the Task View icon might be invisible if toggled off and back on in Settings.
  • Widgets Icon Display: Fixed a race condition that could lead to the Widgets icon not displaying in the taskbar despite being enabled in Settings.

Login and Lock

  • Lock Screen Widget Text Readability: Addressed an issue causing lock screen widget text to be unreadable due to white text on a light background.
  • Taskbar Loading Post-Sleep: Improved taskbar loading times when unlocking the PC after sleep, also addressing issues with the password field and other login screen contents not rendering correctly.

File Explorer

  • File Unblocking: Fixed an issue where files remained blocked in Properties even after attempting to unblock them.

Start Menu

  • Touch Navigation Reliability: Resolved issues with touch navigation in the new Start menu, including support for the swipe-up gesture.

Input

  • Microsoft Changjie Input Method: Fixed issues causing the Microsoft Changjie Input method to malfunction in the previous build.
  • Phonetic Keyboards: Addressed problems with phonetic keyboards, such as the Hindi Phonetic Input keyboard and the Marathi Phonetic keyboard, not functioning properly in the previous build.

Administrator Protection

  • Xbox App Launch: Fixed an underlying issue where the Xbox app wouldn't launch when administrator protection was enabled, which may have also impacted other apps, showing errors 0xC0000142 or 0xC0000045.

Settings

  • BitLocker Drive Encryption Link: Resolved an issue where a link for BitLocker drive encryption appeared under Settings > System > Storage > Disks and Volumes, even when not supported, leading to error 0x80004005 upon clicking.

Other

  • Group Policy Editor Errors: Fixed multiple error pop-ups about unexpected elements when opening Group Policy Editor.
  • Bugcheck with Error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL: Addressed an underlying issue causing a small number of Insiders to experience a bugcheck with this error in the latest builds.
  • ARM64 App Installers: Fixed an issue impacting installers for certain apps on ARM64 PCs, which could result in prolonged stalls during the installation process.

Known Issues

General

  • Update Rollback with Error 0x80070005: Some Insiders may experience a rollback when attempting to install this update, encountering error 0x80070005 in Windows Update. A fix is in progress; affected users can try resolving the issue via Settings > System > Recovery > "Fix issues using Windows update."

Live Captions

  • Crash During Live Translation: Live captions may crash when attempting to use live translation on a Copilot+ PC.

Xbox Controllers

  • Bugcheck via Bluetooth: Some Insiders are experiencing a bugcheck when using their Xbox Controller via Bluetooth. To resolve, open Device Manager, view devices by driver, locate "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)," and uninstall it.

Click to Do (Preview)

  • Intelligent Text Actions Delay: Users on AMD or Intel®-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience long wait times on the first attempt to perform intelligent text actions in Click to Do after a new build or model update.
This build underscores Microsoft's commitment to enhancing user experience through AI integration, system refinements, and responsiveness to user feedback. Insiders are encouraged to explore these new features and provide feedback to aid in the ongoing development of Windows 11.
