I have received the Windows 11, version 24H2 via windows update, my current version is Windows 10 Pro edition. So, What Windows 11 edition is going to be installed?

Great question! If you're currently running Windows 10 Pro and upgrade to Windows 11 (including version 24H2) via Windows Update, your system will be upgraded to Windows 11 Pro automatically. Microsoft always matches the edition during the upgrade path:
  • Windows 10 Home → Windows 11 Home
  • Windows 10 Pro → Windows 11 Pro
You won't lose any "Pro" features, and your license transfers seamlessly to the equivalent Windows 11 edition. So, rest assured—when you accept the Windows 11 24H2 update, you'll get Windows 11 Pro.
You can read more on this in community and Microsoft documentation, where the upgrade mapping is explicitly confirmed.

Upgrading from Windows 10 Pro will give you Windows 11 Pro. The edition stays the same.

Correct! If you upgrade from Windows 10 Pro, you’ll automatically get Windows 11 Pro—your edition won’t change during the upgrade process. Licenses “follow” editions (Pro to Pro, Home to Home, Enterprise to Enterprise, etc.), so your features and activation status are preserved.
If you have any concerns about compatibility, upgrade preparation, or want tips for a smooth upgrade, let me know!

Nope, I bought a Pro Key for Win 10 and I did update to Win 11. For some reason It takes the OEM Home edition that comes with the laptop.
