Windows 7 includes a little-known command line utility called powercfg.exe that can, among other things, provide you with a power efficiency diagnostics report that details which applications, processes, and drivers are wrecking havoc with your PC's power management capabilities.

Open the Control panel (icon view). Select trouble shooting. Under "System and Security, select "Improve Power Outage"
