Running Win7 64bit. Have spent hours on various forums with a ton of "so called solutions."

Windows Installer doesn't show up under services at all. Can't find a download to reinstall since it should use v5. The v4.5 won't install.

Suggestions?

Put, msi in Search
Do you find the msi.exec.exe ???

Please, let me know.

Drew

Right, ok, that's good then. You cannot download & install Windows Installer v.5. It is a ('deep down') part of the Win7 OS. Try running msiexec.exe from where you have located it.

Again, lemme know, please. Thanks.

Get a window containing text that appears to be instructions for running msiexec.

Right, ok, so, if indeed, it is not listed in Services & you can't get the service going via cmd...

You can try running Repair via the OS disc but, may well have to rebuild the OS.

Sorry.

Check & see if, it comes up in Windows Updates for you but, I kinda doubt it'll be there.

No updates says it is happy, i.e. needs no updates. Unfortunately my OS disk is at home and I'm on travel for a couple weeks. Stopped it once again by M$.

Is there a way to find the existing key for the system?

Should be stuck on the case (PC) or bottom of a laptop or on the case of your OS disc.
