Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 issue

I installed windows 7 about a month ago and windows media player 12 has been working fine. Just barely however, it stopped working. It refuses to open and gives me an error message that says- "Server execution failed." -whenever I open any file. It has never done this before and I have no idea what's wrong.

Do you have a restore point to go back to?

I was able to fix it finally. I just had to turn off the media feature through control panel and restart the computer and turn it back on. It works perfectly fine now, but I have no idea what happened still.
