Windows 7 Windows running very slowly without any programs open

I installed windows seven a month ago it worked good for a few weeks now my computer starts running 80% cpu and 80% ram constintly without any programs open.

computer specs asus G51vx Intel(R) COre(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz
4 GB ram
64 bit windows 7 home

Use task manager to see what is taking up the CPU cycles. Right click on taskbar and select Task Manager. You can click the top of the CPU column to set the highest usage to the top. You can highlight any of the processes you want and watch what they are doing.

some program called svchost.exe is taking up 500,000k of ram. then Windows media player network sharing service is taking up 705,000k is there a way to make them not just open up on thier own and start running with windows 7?

Turn off all unneeded windows 7 services (including wmpnetwork sharing service) and other services that run with in svchost.exe

the windows media player network sharing w/e isn't in that menu to disable it or set it to run only when manualy activated
