Good day,
While using my PC over the weekend I noticed that the windows search option no longer works. If I try and search for something it says 'No Items Match Your Search'. For instance if I open the Music Folder and search for something which I can clearly see it gives me nothing. I've tried going into the contol panel and reseting to default and tried doing a system restore but no luck. Has anyone else had similar issues? If so, how can I fix it? Am I going to have to do a fresh install? I don't want to as I will lose alot of my programs.

Solution
In "Turn Windows Features On or Off" (Control Panel > Programs and Features) is Windows Search ticked?

In Regedit, navigate to this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE***\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
In the right hand window check that the GroupBy string value data is System.StartMenu.Group

***This may also be under HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Also if you have a 64 bit system check this key as well HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderTypes\{ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
Thanks for all your help. I'm at work right now so I"ll try it when I get home.
