Windows 7 Windows Update has stopped updating, some have failed.

My desktop set idle for a year, during my surgery and recovery from my latest back surgery (12th).
I started updating a few at a time, most worked. I have 5 that failed. But I can't back them out because now when I launch the update program it just searches - forever. I will attach a picture of my history.
Please help me get this fixed and up to date. I need this pc to be able to work from home. I need to have some sort of a life. I need your knowledge. Thank you in advance.

Regards,
pj

Start by resetting your Update cache
  • Press [Windows key + r]
  • Type services.msc
  • Locate and stop "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" and Windows Update
  • Delete C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
  • Restart Windows Update service
Also be aware that Windows 7 no longer updates through the "Windows Update" mechanism you need to get the updates from the Windows Update catalog. Here is a good guide for getting your system up-to-date.
