Windows update stuck at 23% for over 2 hours????

Received notice that my version of Windows 10 ready to expire. This is on a laptop that came installed with Windows 10. I shut down and gave it ok to update. It's been stuck on "working on updates 23%" etc for over 2 hours.

I found now a site that tells me I can take some early steps in case of prolonged updates like this.....can I stop this "update"...and go thru those steps?

I should not do it. These updates may take this amount of time. Leave it run.
Your alternative is reinstalling Windows.

Took me the better part of the day to get this installed and after if was over I had lost my sound....still haven't got that fixed...no matter what I try nothing works. Sucky update

Start with updating the drivers. Look into the the support pages of the manufacterer of the laptop.
That should help.

And what exactly is not working, anything you tell will help.
Is it Office, your email client, which app do you use to surf the internet? Versions?
