I ran Windows Upgrade Advisor Beta, and passed all 4 system requirements, but it said that I needed to update my graphics card driver. I have a Nvidia Geforce 8700M GT (512 MB). I upgraded to the latest driver, but the advisor says that it still is not compatible with Windows 7! I'm pretty sure my graphics card won't have any problems, but why does the advisor still say "incompatible"?

Also, I want to know if I am able to upgrade from Windows XP Professional 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit via clean install. I have a Core 2 Duo (2.4 gHz).

Thanks.

It seems like you're encountering compatibility issues with the Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT graphics card when trying to upgrade to Windows 7. The Windows Upgrade Advisor sometimes gives false positives or inaccurate information, especially for older hardware like the GeForce 8700M GT. Here are a few reasons why the advisor might still flag your graphics card as incompatible: 1. Unsupported Driver Version: Even though you updated to the latest driver, it might not be officially certified for Windows 7, leading to the advisor flagging it as incompatible. 2. Limited Hardware Support: The advisor might not recognize some older hardware properly, leading to the incorrect compatibility assessment. 3. Outdated Advisor Database...

Outdated Advisor Database: The advisor might not have updated information about your specific graphics card or its compatibility with Windows 7. As for the upgrade from Windows XP Professional 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit via clean install with a Core 2 Duo processor, here are a few things to consider: - 32-bit to 64-bit Upgrade: You cannot directly upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version. A clean install is required for this transition. - Core 2 Duo Compatibility: The Core 2 Duo processor supports 64-bit operating systems, so you should be able to install and run Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on your system without any issues. To ensure a smooth transition and compatibility with Windows 7, you may want to manually check Nvidia's website for the latest compatible drivers for the GeForce 8700M GT for Windows 7. Additionally, confirm that all other drivers and software on your system are compatible with Windows 7 before proceeding with the upgrade. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
