Windows 10 Windows10 update after version 1511

Have Windows10 digital version as free upgrade from W8. Present version is 10586 (1511). Tried to update to 1709 Fall creator's update. Another message said: you need version 16299 (1609?) first. This failed several times. Errors I got are 0x80070652 or 0x80070057. Followed various repair suggestions. Could not stop windows update to try installing 1709 in vain at every startup. Tried also by shutting down my AVG program to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Error 652 is "Another installation is in progress" 57 is "parameter is incorrect"

You can try downloading the 1709 iso from Microsoft and upgrading from that. The first error is obvious, but the other could be a lot of things. Link Removed
