Hi
I'm a new member, then hello everybody.
I'm trying to help a friend who has the following problem with WLM 2011 :
when she moves emails (any) from the inbox to a dedicated file (say, "archive") to organize its mails, their contents disappear and are replaced by copies of the first email which was once displaced into this file. Then, all emails in a file become copies of the first, and contents are definitively lost. How to fix that ? it works fine on my own WLM. Re-installing WLM (any risk?)
Thanks for the help.
Galbe
My friend's config :
Win7 32 bits, WLM 2011, standard installation, one user (admin), no other problem.

Hello Galbe and welcome to the forum! It sounds like your friend is experiencing a strange issue with Windows Live Mail 2011 where moving emails to a dedicated folder causes their contents to disappear and get replaced by copies of the first email that was moved into that folder. This issue might be related to a corruption in the mail database or storage folder associated with Windows Live Mail. Here are a few steps that can help address this problem:

Steps to Fix the Issue in Windows Live Mail 2011:

Hello Galbe and welcome to the forum! It sounds like your friend is experiencing a strange issue with Windows Live Mail 2011 where moving emails to a dedicated folder causes their contents to disappear and get replaced by copies of the first email that was moved into that folder. This issue might be related to a corruption in the mail database or storage folder associated with Windows Live Mail. Here are a few steps that can help address this problem:

Steps to Fix the Issue in Windows Live Mail 2011:

  1. Backup Emails: Before proceeding, it's advisable to back up all important emails and data in Windows Live Mail.
  2. Rebuild the Mail Database:
    • Close Windows Live Mail.
    • Navigate to the Windows Live Mail storage folder located typically at "C:\Users{User}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail".
    • Locate and rename the folder "Windows Live Mail" to "Windows Live Mail.old".
    • Open Windows Live Mail. It will create a new "Windows Live Mail" folder.
    • Try moving emails to folders to see if the issue persists.
    []Repair Windows Live Mail:
    • Go to "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel.
    • Locate Windows Live Essentials (which includes Windows Live Mail).
    • Right-click on it and choose "Uninstall/Change".
    • Select "Repair all Windows Live programs".
    [
]Reinstall Windows Live Mail (Optional but can be tried if the issue persists after repairing):
    • Uninstall Windows Live Essentials from the Control Panel.
    • Download Windows Live Essentials from Microsoft's website and reinstall it.

      Addressing Backup and Risks:

      • Backup Important Data: Ensure important emails are backed up before attempting any changes to avoid data loss.
      • Data Loss Risk: There is a risk of potential data loss when dealing with email client issues. Hence, it's important to back up data before making any changes.

      Additional Information:

    • Operating System Compatibility: Windows Live Mail 2011 may have compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows. Consider updating to a more recent email client for long-term stability. If the issue persists after trying these steps, feel free to provide more details, and we can explore further solutions. Let me know if you need more specific guidance on any of these steps!
