After running the Windows Upgrade Advisor twice without issue I attempted to install the Win7 Ultimate Edition twice earlier this morning. Both times the install process was halted mid-stream and I get two pop up windows. The first says, "The installation was cancelled" and the second says, "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed".
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround?
This is very annoying given the price of the software.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with installing Windows 7 Ultimate Edition where the installation process is being halted mid-stream with error messages stating that the installation was canceled and that Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration, preventing the installation from proceeding. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Check System Requirements: - Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. 2. Update Drivers: - Make sure that all your device drivers are up to date before attempting the installation. 3. Disconnect Devices: - Disconnect any external devices (other than essentials like keyboard and mouse) during the installation process. 4. Run Disk Cleanup: - Perform a disk cleanup to remove unnecessary files that might be causing conflicts during the installation. 5. Check Disk: - Run a disk check to ensure that there are no errors on your hard drive that are hindering the installation process. 6. Try Safe Mode: - Boot into Safe Mode and attempt the installation. Safe Mode loads Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services. 7. Repair Boot Configuration: - You can try repairing the boot configuration using the Windows Recovery Environment. 8. Fresh Installation: - If the above steps do not work, consider performing a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. 9. Contact Microsoft Support: - If all else fails, reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance may be necessary. If you can provide more details about your system specifications or any specific steps you've already taken, it would help in providing more tailored troubleshooting steps.
