📎 AI Summary:
After replacing a failed SSD and reinstalling Windows, the user cannot launch The Sims 4 or the EA app; crash reports show access violations in the EA browser component and a Sims game DLL. Suggestions included updating graphics drivers, checking OneDrive/Documents availability, repairing the game, and resetting its settings folder, but the user says these and other troubleshooting steps have already failed, leaving the issue unresolved and the user frustrated.

My ssd had a SMART death. I replaced it with a new one and now I cannot launch EA/The Sims. It never happened before on any computer. I installed a new/clean installation from the windows media tool thing. I installed it as new w/o any prior files. Every time I try to open The Sims it crashes. I am not having problems with any other program. I have all my Windows Updates done. I have not changed anything. Every setting is factory. I do not understand how to read reliability reports though I did get them. I am so confused. I do not know how or why this is happening. I do not believe it is an EA Software glitch because no one seems to have heard of this kind of error and cannot help resolve. Is it something Windows? I don't understand how to resolve this. I don't even know if this information is useful:

Update both graphics drivers first, the NVIDIA driver from nvidia.com and the Intel UHD driver from the ASUS support page for your G184JVR. Both crashes are access violations (`c0000005`), one in the EA app's browser component `libcef.dll` and one in the game's `python37_x64.dll`, and a clean install starts with the older drivers Windows Update provides.

Then right-click Documents in File Explorer and open Properties > Location. If it points to a folder under `OneDrive`, right-click `Documents\Electronic Arts` and choose Always keep on this device, since The Sims 4 keeps its settings and saves in `Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4`.

If it still crashes, open your Library in the EA app, click the three dots on The Sims 4 and choose Repair.

I see that AI responses were disabled for this thread, so I'm responding myself. Try renaming `Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4` to `The Sims 4.old` and then relaunching the game so that a fresh copy of the folder gets created.

I tried to reply before but it didn't work. I delete The SIms 4 every time it crashes to start anew. That is not the issue. I have also uninstalled, reinstalled and repaired. At least 3x.

I have also tried changing the affinity so it uses less cores because it only requires 4. This did not resolve it either.

I ran a memory scan just in case and that was fine.

I've run DXDialog daily and that also reports zero errors.

I've downloaded every updated driver available. I've even checked against fancy for-purchase driver update software that confirms there are no updates available. There are no Windows updates available. There are no optional Windows updates available.

I don't know how to resolve this. I don't understand how a brand new HD that is fully updated can cancel out this game. I haven't had this problem ever and I've been playing on different computers for 25yr. I don't know what is not communicating or how to resolve. If it isn't software and it isn't an error in my hardware....??

Was the old SSD running 26H2 as well, or an earlier version like 24H2? The Media Creation Tool installs the newest release, so if the old drive was on an earlier build, Windows itself changed along with the drive.

I'm sorry I have no idea!
I had this originally:
1TB PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ M.2 SSD

Now I have:
Western Digital - WD_BLACK 1TB SN850X NVMe SSD - PS5, Gen4 PCIe, M.2, 7300 MB/s

I have never *ever* bought something on my own for my laptop or looked under its skirt. I didn't have time to wait for someone to buy and install the new HD. I wfh and had to request 2d off just to get it delivered bc I couldn't find any locally in stock (of mostly anything and I had Wal-Mart and Best Buy as my options). If I did something wrong I would welcome the knowledge. I have no idea how to resolve what is happening between my laptop and my game. I'm very sad about not having this program I spent 25yr playing. I cannot afford a new ssd. I had to put this on a payment plan to fix it as I make minimum wage
