In case someone has similar issues, hope this helps.
I had 3 sound related issues on my laptop after the upgrade to win 10 from 7.
- The volume was so low I could hardly hear anything.
- The mute light was always on, f11 worked to mute and unmute.
- Beats audio disappeared.
My HP DV7-4065dx is no longer supported by HP but I was able to google the original IDT HD software. I installed the package and all is fixed!
