📎 AI Summary:
Airlane1979 noticed that their Toshiba laptop, which has three physical USB ports (two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0), shows seven USB ports in the USBview utility after troubleshooting. They are curious about the discrepancy. Neemobeer explains that while the physical ports are three, the USB technology supports up to 127 devices through daisy chaining via hubs, which accounts for the higher number displayed. Overall, the discussion clarifies that the multiple USB ports shown include internal hubs and virtual connections, not just the physical ports.

While troubleshooting a misbehaving USB port on my Toshiba Satellite Windows 10 laptop, I installed the USBview utility for the first time ever. The port magically came back to life but I am curious: my laptop has 3 USB ports (2 of USB2.0 ,one of USB3.0) but the USBview screen shows seven USB ports. Why is this?

I only see 3. The USB hubs are the physical ports. USB technology itself can allow up to 127 devices daisy chained together via USB hubs (physical).
