I wonder who set up the countdown timer for the 8.1 release...... Seems to be available 12 hours before it says it should be.

It went live in the USA at 7:00 am EST...I got mine right then.

I suppose the timer could be set up just for the release of the NEW OS, Windows 8.1. That would make sense as part of the hype being created around this release.
