Hi, I have been locked out of my laptop for no apparent reason!
It says:

The User profile service service failed the logon
user profile cannot be loaded

There are two profiles, mine and my partners, but she has never used my laptop and has no idea what the password is (it is possible that the same fail would occur anyway), there is no apparent administrator profile even when start up in Safe mode,

So to sum up, I can not get past the Logon page,
Any advise would be gratefully recieved

Solution
You can try and see if, in Safe Mode (continuously tap F8 when the machine is booting), it will load a temp profile for you. If so you can use that to either enable the hidden admin account or fix the password problem to your friends other logon.
You're going to need another admin logon to fix the problem with your profile.
If that doesn't work then you need to grab this from here http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
burn the ISO to a CD and boot to it and use that to enable the hidden admin account or clear the password on your friends logon.

Then when you've managed to get into the machine use this article to fix your messed up profile.
Method one should do the trick
