Why is my lock screen showing this screen and asking me to verify my password? Shouldn't it automatically ask for my password on the blue screen?

I have Windows 8, and just got a new laptop. Using Windows 8 for the first time. How do I get rid of this screen?

I have an HP Probook 640

Please help me!!

I seriously doubt that... this model comes in windows 7, 8.1 or 10

yes... the image you posted is not good but that does not look like a default windows login screen to me.
have you added any blotware (hp password manager perhaps) or is there a domain | admin account on the system as well?

p.s the hp manual (such as it is) for 8.1 as a pdf = Link Removed
