Hi and welcome.

Open an elevated command prompt. Run this command:

chkdsk /r

If you have new crashes after, you may post them.

Hi Torrent,

I've tried executing an elevated command but the command refuses to run and my cursor just sits there. I've already unblocked the application and put a shortcut on my desktop. The cursor just ticks over, waiting for it but nothing happens. I'd shutdown and restart but of course I can't.

Reboot to safe mode and run the command from there.
