I also miss this feature and I don't have a solution for this.

But you can use third party program Network Lights 1.1 that will let blink "ScrollLock" and "NumLock" keyboard LEDs.

I never really noticed this in Win 7.. but that's most likely because I pay more attention to the lights on my router than the one's in the taskbar.. Learn something new everyday..
