Home basic on months trial is all I have. The number I type in after that is on my laptop sticker isn't it I can't read it anyway so do I buy a new key it's only old laptop I bought in car boot sale can I upgrade to window10 or something I am happy plodding along on home basic it will run out in a couple of weeks what will I do after

On an old lappy, ime Linux is your best (freebie) bet... I personally like Mint because its lite and looks/ works as Windows but there are lots of options if that one doesn't floot your boat. Don't pay for a Windows build on a garage sale computer mate, it's a bad investment.
