On most sites, nothing happens until somebody complains. Here every post is checked the moment it is written. Most spam never even gets that far. It is stopped at sign-up, before an account exists. And a person still makes the calls that affect you.

Chapter 01
The best post to deal with is the one that was never written.

You almost never meet the spam here. Most of it is stopped at the sign-up form, before an account exists. Five quick checks run there. One form field is invisible to you, and a bot fills it in anyway. Another times how fast the form was filled in.
Your email ending is checked against 1,437 real ones. Then we ask whether that address can receive mail at all. Most throwaway ones cannot.
Each check is easy to beat on its own. All five together are not.

Where you are connecting from is a hint, not a verdict. The same hotel wifi can carry a spam run and a real member on the same night. So a bad reputation never turns you away on its own. It asks you to prove a little more, and then you are in.
Nothing stopped at sign-up is kept. No account is made and no post is written. Nobody has to read it later, and you never see it at all.

Half a million posts checked, and not one of them waited for a complaint.

You never have to report a post to get it looked at. Every post is checked the moment it is written, day and night. 507,497 posts have been through this so far.
Almost all of them are fine. Nothing happens to those, and you never know the check ran. The few that are not fine reach a moderator right away, instead of sitting there until somebody complains.
You never press a report button to start this. The check has already run.

One post on its own is easy to misread. So three things go in first. The rules of this forum, exactly as they are written. What you have posted here before. And what else turned up in the same few minutes.
Forty near-identical posts mean something that one post never does. So your post is read in context. A clumsy line on a bad day is treated like a clumsy line on a bad day. Nine years of good posts count for something too, and so does an account that is eleven minutes old.
Chapter 03
Anything that affects you is somebody's call, and they put their name to it.

Nothing here can act on its own. The check hands over what it thinks, and why. A moderator reads that and decides what happens to you and your post.
Most posts are left completely alone. The rest get a quiet word, a short hold, or a spam mark. A person makes every one of those choices.

You find out what happened to your post, in plain words. The reason is written down at the time, so nobody has to remember it later. If the call was wrong, you can say so, and a moderator can undo it.
You get to spend your time on your actual Windows problem. The junk never gets that far.
Every decision comes with a reason you can read.
