See off-screen programs in Windows 7

QI have two monitors, a desktop PC and a laptop, which are both running Windows 7 . I often switch one of the monitors between the desktop PC and laptop, but sometimes programs I have left open on that monitor do not automatically move into view after I disconnect it.

Is it that the programs don't switch immediately after you disconnect or toggle to another computer or the programs do not switch at all?
