yeah this didnt happen until after installing windows 10. Although, i also switched over to using a windows live login instead of just my local login. I don't remember if it happened before switching to my live login. And yes, my internet connection was working each time this happened. I don't...
There will be a windows.old folder which i think is basically just a straight copy of the previous windows folder.
The real question you want to be asking is if you can clean out the windows 10 version of the windows folder, since right now on my system that's eating up about 40gb of disk...
Occasionally when I try to log in, there's a long delay before I can type in the password. By long delay, I mean 3-5 minutes. During this delay, the login screen is completely unresponsive. I can't click on anything on the screen. The keyboard appears to be responsive - caps lock/num lock lights...

Using the preview builds, it upgraded me to the RTM build a few days back without any issues. Kind of surprised me since I think with windows 8 they wanted you to do a fresh install (or upgrade from win7) rather then upgrading from a beta build. I don't know how the upgrade will start in win8...
I have a Win7 install - clean install, about 6-7 months old. Only being used for work purposes (web development) no gaming anything like that.
Randomly as far as i can tell, my computer crashes. There's no bluescreen, no error log. The only thing to indicate something happened is that fact that...
I'm not sure when this started happening - i don't think I changed any network settings, maybe after a windows update?
Anyhow, when i wake up my PC i'm unable to reach anything outside the LAN, even via it's IP address. I can ping the router and pull up the router's web page via Link Removed

How come ati doesn't have them on their site? Anyhow - this came just a little bit too late. I just finished boxing up the card to return. I almost want to open it up again just to see if it works :) But thanks anyway for sending me the link.
Hi all,
Running win7 64bit. I have an amd 9250 video card. The amd site only has win2k/xp (32bit) drivers for that card. I don't suppose there's any way to get that card working in win7?
I don't need it for gaming. I just need it for the desktop to run a 3rd monitor. The other two monitors are...
thanks for the suggestion. does easybcd replace the windows boot manager? or just configures it?
and is there any way with the windows backup to tell it to NOT backup that other drive? if i pull that drive would it complain about it being missing or would it allow me to just image C drive?
thanks
so do i first need to write the image to a seperate location and then restore it to the replacement drive? or can i combine that into a single step? i.e. not write an image - just basically do a restore from the source onto the new drive?
also, is it going to try and do a FULL system image...
Hi all,
copied a hard drive using parted magic. I believe i need to edit a boot.ini file? Or was that something for XP? been a while since i upgraded a hard drive so i dont remember exactly what i did last time. Only thing i seem to remember clearly was to NOT plug both drives in once i...
i fixed this problem, but the fix isn't pretty.
I was on the phone with ms tech support for several hours trying to resolve this. Their solution was to do an inplace upgrade - basically reinstall windows on top of itself. Seems like a completely ridiculous solution since there must be some...
I right click on the network icon and select network and sharing center, i then click on change adapter settings - and that screen is completely blank. And again - my network connection is so far working fine even though that screen makes it look like i have no network adapters.
