I have Windows 7 Ultimate and it allows you to make a folder for a bootable virtual HD instead of partitioning. You are running on actual hardware not in a virtual machine and dual booting and Windows 7 is still intact. Can windows 10 do this?

I have been using the Windows 10 preview for about 2 months now and everything is running fine except for the network. First I installed the preview on my laptop as a dual boot, with Windows 7 Home on the C: drive and Windows 10 Preview on the D: drive. If I am...
For some time now run a dual boot pc for some time now with Win 7 and Win 10 tech preview. I have upgraded to Win 10. So now what I want to do is uninstall the tech preview and the boot menu. I could just format the tech preview drive but would that leave my boot up clean with just the Win 10...
I'm sure the gurus know how to do this but it is a daunting task for normal users. So, it would be great if one of the many gurus here could provide step by step instructions for the rest of us to go from an existing 8.1 oem factory installation to a dual boot 8.1 and 10.

My configuration: Dual boot: W8.1 on a SSD, W7 on a HD, all user files from both W7 and W8.1 are on the W7 HD.
The only reason for keeping W7 in the air was a NLE (video editing) which did not function well in a W8 environment.
What should be the best / least risky way of upgrading my W8.1

I'm worried about installing the downloaded Windows 10 and having it overwrite my existing os. Is there a way to install the downloaded W10 in a dual boot with the existing W8.1?
I have updated the 8.1 system but I heard that the W10 install deletes the W 8.1 registration so that restoring from...
I currently have Windoes 8.1 installed. I want to add Windows XP and be able to choose between the two at boot up. How should I go about installing Windows XP?
Hello,
Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I have a lingering question about running Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 tech preview dual boot. First of all, Windows 8.1 here is an HP OEM. I would like to keep 8.1 as is and upgrade Windows 10 tech preview to the official release when it...
How are things with your performance, so far. I have a dual boot on an old i5 Laptop. These are not sophisticated measurements, only my observations with my own wrist watch. I have found the speed difference, when opening various programs on my PC, almost identical. In fact, Windows 8.1, in a...

I have 2 SSDs with Windows 8.1 on one. I unplugged this disk and installed Windows 10 on the other SSD. I wanted to plug both in and select the boot disk in Bios so I could boot either windows 8.1 or Windows 10. It works great MOST OF THE TIME. However, I occasionally get the message "no...
I guess I'll start with what gave birth to this problem: I was curious about OpenSUSE so I thought I'd try it out, I dual booted Windows with OpenSUSE and everything was fine, I gave it a go, exactly what I wanted to do, and then I was done with it. In the process of installing OpenSUSE however...

Hi guys!, I recently came across Ubuntu and i liked it, so i decided to install and try it on my computer. I did try out Live USB and i thought that i wanted to install it on my computer, but my system was, or had "EFI" so Ubuntu didn't recognize WIndows, so i found this guy on youtube who had a...
I have a system with Windows 7 Pro x64 on it (came with it) with a full Windows 7 Installation DVD. It has a 500 GB drive with an 8 GB RAM. I partitioned it with AOMEI to give me an extra 100 GB primary drive.
On this I wanted to install a Windows 8.1 (x64). But it just wouldn't let me...

Hi,
Firstly, I'm new to the forums so wanted to say hey to everyone.
My main issue is in a multi-boot scenario (2 harddrives, both with an xp and win 8.1 partition), boot.ini comes before BCD so I can never boot the windows 8.1 drives.
Quick back story:
Originally had 2 harddrives, both xp...
Hi All
Not sure if I've put this in the right place.
I've own a Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, there is a nearly identical hardware version (the same minus the inbuilt projector and 4GB instead of 2GB of RAM) that runs Windows 8.1 called the Yoga Tablet 2 13. Can you tell me if it would be possible...
Hi
When the next update comes online I'd like to do a clean install, on my original C:\ drive in place of Windows 8 which won't boot anyway because the drive became Dynamic when I was messing around.
I have everything on the drive backed up, I'd like to format it, partition it the way I want...
