Microsoft has made a significant decision regarding its approach to encouraging Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Following a surge of user complaints regarding frequent prompts and advertisements for Windows 11, Microsoft has announced they will be dialing back on these aggressive...
I have used Macrium Reflect for years and being free it lacked encryption. I just found that out b/c it is EOL for free.
I keep trying different ones and don't know whether to stay with Macrium and pay or go elsewhere.
I tried Windows B+R and it was fine but heard it is not long for this world...

If you weren't already aware, Windows 7 reached end of life this year on January 14th 2020. End of life or EOL means the operating system vendor, in this case Microsoft, will no longer develop updates to address security issues within the software. Partly due to the fact that Windows 7 has...

If I remember correctly, XP's EOL had a HUGE reaction because of all the people's fond memories of it. So Win7's will be that, but bigger in my personal opinion.

Apparently we're losing Secunia Personal Software Inspector next month. It apparently stops working on April 20, 2018.
See the screenshot I just made of it below.
This topic is targeted at Vista users mainly who may visit here only for Vista support.
On April 11, 2017 support for Vista will officially end meaning that there will be no more security updates, no more official support from Microsoft period and you will be left with a unsecure OS.

I've tried one version of Window 8 after another and just simply: DO NOT LIKE IT!!! How much longer (in general) do you think Windows 7 has before it becomes obsolete? Thanks, LWL
Microsoft has decided to end its' Windows Home Server (WHS) offering. So the current 2011 version looks like the end of a reasonably priced Server OS install.

The latest video release showcasing Microsoft Windows 8 benchmarks, and a quick press release by Emily Wilson at Microsoft, shows that Windows 8’s boot time capability will be superior to Windows 7. No, the system was not in hibernation; otherwise we would have seen the restore from hibernation...

I was just wondering after doing research on this. When water heaters in homes reach the end of their lives, do they just stop working, or do they always explode and create a flood?
If it's the latter, or if the latter is more common and thus the norm, how do you anticipate about when it will...
I have used Secunia without incident for years and it alerts me to any programs that are a threat, end of life, or need patching.
I think it woud solve many of the problems I have read on this page.

Surprise, Vista's short four-year support run is coming to an end. What's the reasoning for the early exit?
