Often, when I do something that requires a program to access the folder structure, such as an "attach," the system responds incredibly slowly. It might take a minute or more, during which it shows as non-responding. This mainly occurs with several web browsers, including Edge and FF). My sense...
Hi,
I'm using two win10 PCs (a Pro and a Home).
I just built some symlinks in different folders to a target folder mp4 files.
Now I have some time to copy these symlinks to my Notebook without having to build all of the symlinks again.
That means that the target, which is visible on any of the...
So I'm on the very long digital organization project, scanning documents, photos etc. We I've been looking up articles on how to organize and name folders when you have all kinds of types of files. I found a couple good articles.

Is there any way of creating a custom warning (In Win7) when someone attempts to create a folder structure that is longer than 256 characters. I have recently had to edit path names in excess of 300 characters. I need to keep the path name below the max for project archiving.
Assume I have a file
D:\aaa\bbb\ccc\ddd.txt
Can this file inherit its owner from the wrapping folder?
Can folder ccc inherit its owner from the parent folder bbb?
Or is inheritance only applicable to access permissions and not to ownership?

My office pals are constantly creating lenghy file names and folders that surpass windows limits, which is causing problems when I perform or restore backups. Is there a way to just stop windows from letting a user write or copy a file which exceeds the limits imposed by the OS itself?. I´ve...

Hi:
In recent months using Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 laptops and 5 USB devices (3 are WD and 2 are Seagate) many, but not all of my folders are empty, meaning their subfolders are empty with all files missing. While I’m not absolutely certain, I think the empty phenomenon begins with the base...

When your copying a data CD or folder or whatever, when your copying anything windows should check to see if the file names are going to be too long BEFORE it copies or movies, to stop things from being so difficult.
Personally, I backup large amounts of data sorted into many folders and...

Hi. I recently purchased a WD Live TV Hub. To my chagrin, I am discovering that in order to use the Media Library option on the hub, I am needing to go into the library in Windows Media Player on my PC and do some serious housecleaning. Currently I use iTunes as a music player on my PC. Any...

I got a new computer with intel i7 chip and windows 7.
I had all of my music/photos/files backed up on a 2TB external harddrive.
I copied all of the files from the backup to the new computer harddrive.
Here's where it gets strange.
I have over 6000 songs that were kept in one folder each with...
At the moment I am using an xcopy command to copy all files with a certain extension to another folder. As the number of files in this folder increases I'd like to organise them into sub folders and have the directory structure mirrored. However I don't want the entire folder contents copied...
I have a bit of a problem with a messed up windows 7 install and looking for someone with enough knowledge who might have come across this.

I want to search my entire computer (or perhaps an entire drive or folder structure) for a file called abc.txt. So I navigate in explorer to My Computer (or a drive or a folder structure) and in the top-right corner of explorer, I enter my filename search term. Instead of just seaching for that...
I have two problems with Offline Files in Windows 7 that maybe you can shed some light on. I have narrowed these problems down specifically to Offline Files in Windows 7 and have manufactured some workaround solutions, but they are not great.

Hi
I've been talking with Veegertx about changing the Windows load screen in another post and that brought me to a strange issue.
I created a folder with a sub folder in Windows Explorer and placed an image in it by copying and pasting it.
Later when I wanted to edit the image I tried...
