Windows 8 was, for many longtime users, an unexpected shock to the system—a radical design shift that left a bitter taste. For those who remember the familiar Start Menu as the gateway to their programs, the abrupt switch to a full-screen, tile-oriented interface felt like a design misfire. In...
Reimagining Windows: When Instinct Triumphs Over User Feedback
Microsoft’s recent reflection on Windows design has sparked a fascinating debate: Could modern Windows be as “special” if it had relied solely on user feedback? The answer, according to a candid remark by former UI designer Harold...
Imagine a device that anticipates your needs—a smartphone that isn’t just a tool but an extension of your digital lifestyle. As Microsoft celebrates a monumental 50 years, the notion of reviving the Windows Phone brand echoes like a call from the past. It’s a call for innovation, nostalgia, and...
I have two machines running Win 7 and Win 8.1 and need this to work on the win 8.1 but if we find a proper solution then it could work on Win 7 as well.

After recently updating to Windows 10 v.1809 the tiles on Metro start page will not stay when I set them up like I want them. For example, I keep the Settings tile in a specific place on the page on all my PCs and since updating tiles will not keep the setup like I want to. How do I save the...
I tend to use "app" to refer to the metro apps and "program" to refer to things like excel or Word. But in W10 menus, "app" seems to refer to both which I find confusing. Why the blurring of the distinction?
Thanks.
I got used to the Metro version of IE in Windows 8.1 and actually like it. Now, in Windows 10, I can't find any way to get that look and feel. Is there any way to get that Windows 8.1 Metro version of IE in Windows 10?
Thanks for any help.
Jim
I updated an older laptop from W7 to W10. I used the media creator and the update was smooth and uneventful.
As part of my explorations I decided to remove all the metro apps using
Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage
because I never use them
Don't know if this has anything to do with it...
I'm running a non-touch laptop and have no use for MetroUI apps whatsoever. How would one go about globally uninstalling ALL of the Metro apps in Windows 10 so that they're gone forever?
I am trying to use the UI version of IE rather than the desktop version. I can't seem to find any of the menus that show up in the desktop version. Organize Favorites is one in particular. Is there a way to organize Favorites in the UI version or do I have to use the Desktop version for that...

I just set up a brand new laptop running Windows 8.1. I am not new to Windows. I have been using it since the first version came out. Since I will be using this for work and would like it to run as efficiently as possible, I installed Start8, so I can just use the start menu and not have to...
I have always run both Windows 8 and 8.1 on a netbook as I don't own any big laptops. It is a well known fact that Metro Apps cannot run on netbooks because of the low screen resolution. Until now that is. I recently installed Windows 10 and upgraded to Build9879 and to my surprise all of the...

Here you can see the problem (and you can see that resolution of...
