iv downloaded msn messanger like a million times and it says installed successfully. but when i go to use it, its knowhere to be found. done all the searches and nothing?

I have recently installed the latest upgrade which includes Windows Essentials 2011.
After rebooting I am finding that Live Mail and MSN messenger are running very slow and are completely unusable.
Is there a fix or do I have to do a restore.

Skype seems slow while MSN Messenger seems fine with My Grandmother. When I talk with My Grandfather everything is fine, the computers are separate, it doesn't freeze no more cause I downloaded a hotfix from skype garage, but slow with Grandmother

"Could not access network location %PUBLIC%/Desktop/"
Because of this error. I cannot install or uninstall some of my programs (e.g msn messenger) or update some of my programs through Windows Update (e.g. Office)
