Me Again !
New machine with Windows 7 Pro.
Wanted to use Task Manager to halt a programme.
Task Manager comes up in the Processes page, no header, no tabs, no way out other than closing the thing with the Taskbar context popup.
Can I somehow correct this, or should I seek a...

Primarily I use a notebook computer and a desktop computer, but since I have two residences I have two desktop computers, and when my old notebook died I bought a replacement that uses the same hard drive. There are about 40 items in the user profile that pertain to system information. What...
I have a problem that ASUS techs don't have the answer to. When I turn on the computer I get 3 bangs
from my Sony 2.1 speakers. Then they are ok. The worst problem is that the monitor screen flashes off
and on. It can happen on any program. Examples would be an Office program or Quicken. The...

To invest in a hard drive for my 4 year old Toshiba A665 Laptop? When I try to "Rate This Computer" , it hangs up when it gets to 'Primary Hard Disk". Therefore no Performance Check. I like the laptop, keyboard and the larger screen, so is it worth saving it and what would it cost to do...
I don't know where to go to get a windows 7 instal disk, at least without paying an absurd amount. I contacted microsoft and they told me because it was beyond the warranty it would cost over $32 after a shipping of ~$5. Please someone help. I don't want to spend 1/3 the cost of an entire...
A fun new accessory
While Surface Pro 3 doesn't offer a truly integrated port for storing the Surface Pen, you do get a cute little pen holder called Pen Loop with a Type Cover. The only issue is what happens if your Pen Loop ever detaches. No problem: Microsoft will sell you a replacement in...
A number of Linux distros have small footprints that make them especially suited to applications like running them from a USB stick. What accounts for the difference in size compared to the "full" sized distros? What is missing? Is it just that full-sized ones have bloat from being bundled...

I got the message when a blue screen opened up and said that there was a problems and my computer was shutting down.
When I booted backup I was forced into setup where I got another message saying that my CPU had exceeded 90C and had shut down to...

Hi
My wife's laptop just booted to a black screen.
No Dell logo pops up, no nothing.
I've removed and replaced the battery, restarted it multiple times and tried the f8 ad f12 keys.
But there is no display at all.
It crashed in a similar way last week, but there was a display and eventually...
It appears that this UPS is failing, because it has started rapidly switching back and forth, between the status of being on AC and on battery. I've checked the power connection, and the AC itself is normal, so I need to RMA it. However, for some reason, the copy of the sales receipt I had...
This post could go in anywhere I suppose, but, I chose the Windows 7 Forum because I'm partial to 7.
I just iced my Logitech diNovo keyboard when I knocked a glass of water over, right on the darned thing! Thus, I'm looking for a really good tactile, tenkeyless, Cherry-switched, replacement and...
Another of my WDC drives is biting the dust (WD30EZRX)...not that it seems to matter what the model is, because I've now owned a number of WDC drives, and none of them has lasted through their warranty period. It seems to be becoming a vicious RMA circle. The drive that I'm now having to...
Somewhat to my surprise, because of the reputation of FedEx, I've been having some delivery problems with them. Of course, the degree of the problem varies, depending on the person making the deliveries, and it not always obvious who that person is, when they don't knock on the door, and leave...
Microsoft's 13-year CEO announced today his plans to retire within the next year, which surely brings closure to many people who were always skeptical of his behaviour as a person and strategies for the company itself.

I don't tend to think of it as computer hardware, but in essence it is, because about the only way that I ever use it is in conjunction with the computer. I'm in the process of applying for an RMA for a couple of Logitech Optical Wheel Trackball mice, but one thing that they asked for that I...
I'm now blowing taps over the video card in my HTPC, and about to order the card in the titleas it's replacement, but before doing so I wanted to see if anyone has anything negative to say about it, or if they feel that there is a better choice it it's price range?
EDIT: I forgot to include in...
