Activation of Windows 10 Pro

I just had my computer repaired and the technician put in Windows 10 Pro. I get a message saying to go to settings to activate windows. I do not have a product key. The technician said it will kick in in 3 to 4 days. I asked him if this was a legal installation and he said he bought it at Best Buy. But I can't activate it. Am I being scammed?

Probably. They don't "kick in", they do activate when you click activate.
Run the command slmgr /dlv and post a screenshot.

Thank you. I got my money back from the guy who scammed me and brought it to another repair person. My computer is running like a charm now.

I have had a similar problem with my PC a few months ago and had to get my computer repaired. The technician fixed it and deleted everything from it. He then installed the windows ten pro, and then a message that said activate windows popped up just like it popped up for you too. However, this is not a very big deal, because the computer can work just as well without having a windows 10 pro mak key. Many people don't activate it, and they don't experience any problems. It depends on whether you want to do such a thing or not, but it will not affect the PC's performance in any way.

Forgoing activation for the most part will not impede the use of Windows; however, you will get a very limited set up updates and security patches which is a very bad idea.
