Windows 11, Backupper 7.3.2 Pro. Created 7 text files, did an encrypted file backup with BU, then changed file extension .AFI to .TXT, and half of the files were encrypted, half of them were not.
1) Text file.txt created, with 1 word "Kitty".
2) Backupper file backup with encryption enabled.
3) .AFI image created, copied, converted to .txt file
4) Windows Notepad easily displays content of backup in plaintext unencrypted form.
4b) An example of another file backup with encryption that did not work:

Could you please test this program's encryption, and post your results? Thank you.

Backup Image Encryption in AOMEI Backupper
The option of image file encryption can help to encrypt the image file by setting a password so as to protect the data from unauthorized access.

My File Backup Encrypted 4.afi(AOMEI Backupper Backup File)My File Backup Encrypted 4.txt(Text Document) .
- When the
.afifile is renamed to.txtand opened in Notepad, it displays intelligible text mixed with unintelligible characters, indicating possible partial encryption or corruption:- The text includes "Kitty" with corrupted characters following it (e.g.,
à ï¿多è~Ã) . Given these findings, it seems that the encryption functionality might not be working as expected, especially since some parts of the backed-up content appear in plaintext while others are garbled.Suggested Tests and Validation
To further test and validate the encryption functionality of AOMEI Backupper 7.3.2 Pro:
- The text includes "Kitty" with corrupted characters following it (e.g.,
- Create several backups with varying content and settings.
- Ensure encryption is enabled each time and verify if the issue persists across different files and types.
- Test the encryption feature with other file types (e.g., images, documents) to see if the problem is consistent.
- Ensure that you have the latest version of AOMEI Backupper.
- Recheck encryption settings and methods used (e.g., AES-256).
- Share your findings with AOMEI’s support team for further assistance, as this might be a bug or a specific issue with your configuration.
- View the renamed
.txtfiles using different text editors to rule out encoding or software-specific bugs. Conclusion
It appears there are inconsistencies with how AOMEI Backupper handles encryption for text files. Conducting additional tests and reaching out to AOMEI support with detailed findings should help in diagnosing and resolving the issue. If you need further assistance or specific steps, please let me know!
