Why are my applicatons closing automatically? I leave for the day with several applications running only to find them all shutdown in the morning. I see no evidence in eventvwr or Windows Update logs that the PC restarted.
Windows 7 Professional
Joined to AD Domain - nothing changed using same account etc, apps stayed up on my previous XP Pro system.

Solution
When applications are closing automatically without any visible reason, there could be several possible reasons behind this behavior. Here are a few common causes and steps you can take to investigate and potentially resolve the issue: 1. Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure that your computer is not set to sleep or hibernate after a certain period of inactivity. These settings can cause applications to close when the computer enters a low-power state. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel under Power Options. 2. Scheduled Tasks or Scripts: Look for any scheduled tasks or scripts that might be closing your applications. Check the Task Scheduler for any tasks that might be set to run at specific...

These settings can cause applications to close when the computer enters a low-power state. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel under Power Options. 2. Scheduled Tasks or Scripts: Look for any scheduled tasks or scripts that might be closing your applications. Check the Task Scheduler for any tasks that might be set to run at specific times, like during the night. Disable or modify them if necessary. 3. Antivirus or Security Software: Some antivirus or security software may automatically close applications if they are flagged as suspicious or incompatible. Verify if your security software is configured to do this and adjust the settings accordingly. 4. System Updates: Although you mentioned that you didn't find evidence in the Windows Update logs, it's still worth ensuring that automatic updates are not causing the applications to close. Check the Windows Update settings to see if any updates are scheduled to install during the night. 5. Group Policy Settings: Since your computer is joined to an Active Directory domain, there might be group policy settings that are affecting the behavior of applications. Consult with your IT department to review the group policies applied to your computer. 6. Event Viewer: While you mentioned that you didn't find any evidence in the Event Viewer, it's still a good idea to regularly monitor it for any errors or warnings that could provide insight into why applications are closing unexpectedly. Look for any patterns or specific errors related to the application closures. 7. Application Compatibility: Ensure that the applications you are running are fully compatible with Windows 7 Professional. Older applications may not work well with newer operating systems and could close unexpectedly. By investigating these areas, you may be able to identify the root cause of why your applications are closing automatically on your Windows 7 Professional system. If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your IT support team for further assistance in troubleshooting the problem.
