Running a new Dell laptop under Win10.
I have a j5create powered 7-port 3.0 hub that seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes all ports work, sometimes none of them work, and the rest of the time -- well, you get the idea. The PC is new, the cable connections are solid, it's plugged into a surge protector, everything looks okay.
I don't even know how to ask this, but: Are there good hubs and bad hubs? Is there any general rule to follow when buying/using them? Is this a Windows thing, or do other platforms have the same problem?
FWIW, one computer in the family is a Macbook pro with only two USB ports, so a hub is absolutely essential. This hub works perfectly, yet there is one app that specifies that its dongle must be plugged directly into the computer -- it will not work if it's plugged into the hub!
