Windows 10 auto download of photos

I don't necessarily want all photos transferred to my pc whenever I plug in a flash drive. If I choose to disable AUTO DRIVE on win10, will that take care of it?
also, how do I RE-ENABLE it should I wish to? I should then be able to pick which ones I want downloaded to my pc. Yes? Thanks.

When I attach a memory chip the first thing I get is a "What do you want to do with this" question. I ignore that and open a Explorer window for the memory and a second one where I store all my pictures (3rd internal drive - "Photography").
Then I manually move them, drag and drop. Otherwise Win 10 wants to put them into the "Pictures" folder. That's not good for me, too much "stuff" there.
